Percy DeWolfe Memorial Mail Race

The Percy DeWolfe Memorial Race is a 200 mile (321 km) International dog sled race, running from Dawson City, Yukon to Eagle, Alaska and return. The race follows the Yukon River along the historic mail of legendary mail carrier Percy DeWolfe in 1910 – 1949.
Throughout a year, Percy delivered mail by boat, dog team, and horse. battling ice floods during freeze-up and break-up, extreme winter temperatures (down to -50 degrees), and losing teams of horses and dogs to the harsh weather conditions. Percy served his community courageously and in 1977 the first Percy DeWolfe Memorial Mail Race was held to commemorate his legacy and service.
The race attracts world class mushers from other well known races such as the Yukon Quest and Iditarod, and is a qualifying race for both.
The Percy DeWolfe Memorial Mail Race reserves the first official start time of 10:00 in honour of Percy DeWolfe, and the first race musher to “follow Percy” at 10:02 carries a bag of mail from Dawson to Eagle. You can be apart of honouring our history by purchasing an official Percy DeWolfe letter, which will be sent in this first bag of mail.
