Teslin is located along banks of Teslin Lake
and Nisutlin Bay. It was a traditional meeting
place and summer camp of the Tlingit people
for thousands of years, until gold prospectors
arrived and established a settlement en route
to the Klondike.
A public boat ramp and launch sit north of
Nisutlin Bridge, the longest on the Alaska
Highway. Visit the Teslin Tlingit Heritage Centre
for Tlingit art exhibits, demonstrations, and
Teslin is located at Mile 804 (Km 1296) on the Alaska Highway.

has 3,000 square feet of galleries devoted
to colourful exhibits, dioramas and artifacts
honouring the lives of George Johnston, the
Inland Tlingit and other Teslin Lake residents.
The “Northern Wildlife Gallery” offers visitors
a rare look at many species from the remote
corners of this vast land. The specimens

displayed met an untimely end through natural
causes or contact and were donated for
taxidermy for this exhibit. Admission is free.
