GATEWAY TO TRANQUILITY
Surrounded by aquamarine glacial lakes
and impressive mountain peaks, the small
town of Atlin, BC can only be reached by
the Atlin Road, which is a turn-off from the
Alaska Highway in the Yukon. You’ll enjoy
the pristine mountain and lake scenery, as
well as the quaint town you’ll arrive in just
an hour after the turn-off. The Atlin Arts and
Music Festival brings the town alive each
year in July, offering a celebration of culture
and creativity.
The Tarahne
A luxury liner that cruised
Atlin Lake in the 1920s. It was
built in 1917 and abandoned
during the Great Depression.
The liner now hosts a popular
event called the Tarahne Tea.
Birch Mountain
The highest mountain (6,765
feet high) on an island in
fresh water in North America
and can be seen across Atlin
Lake from the town.
Warm Springs
A picnic area with a small
meadow pool, fed by warm
underwater springs, lies 24 km
south of Atlin on Warm Bay
Rd. Halfway down the road is a
lookout for Llewellyn Glacier.
