There are eight indigenous
languages in the Yukon:
Gwich’in, Hän, Kaska,
Northern Tutchone,
Southern Tutchone, Tagish,
and Upper Tanana
Miles Canyon was well known to
generations of First Nations people.
The area was called Kwanlin,
which means “running water
through a narrow place”
in Southern Tutchone.
