Tradional Food, Arcc Games, Jigging Contests,
Inuvialuit Drummers & Dancers
Naonally in Canada, we celebrate Naonal
Indigenous Peoples Day every year on June 21.
In Inuvik, this day is a day to celebrate our local
Inuvialuit, Gwich’in and Més people and cultures.
Fesvies of the day include tradional northern
games, country food, jigging, drummers and
dancers, blanket toss and more.
Celebraons connue deep into the evening as
Naonal Indigenous Peoples Day takes place under
the Midnight Sun.
Somemes, Naonal Indigenous Peoples Day will
fall on the same weekend as the Summer Solsce,
in which we have a full weekend of acvies and
events known as Midnight Madness including the
Midnight Sun Fun Run.

Art Showcase, Workshops, Fashion Show, Northern
Games Demonstraons, Inuvialuit Drummers &
Dancers
Each Summer visual arsts and performers from
across the North gather in Inuvik to celebrate the
diversity and culture through art. Inuvik welcomes
many people from Canada’s Northern Indigenous
communies as well as
non-Indigenous arsts to show their work, meet
other
arsts or even learn new techniques and skills to
enhance their cras.
The ten-day event takes place under the Midnight
Sun in mid-July as a showcase of Northern Arts and
Culture for both locals and visitors to enjoy, admire
or purchase.
