Arctic Chalet Resort is a tourist facility that is open year round and provides tourists with a
variety of services such as comfortable, clean full-service cabin accommodations, rental
vehicles and various tours based out of Inuvik. We specialize in Dempster Highway packages
that start and end either in Inuvik, Dawson City or Whitehorse and in winter our specialty is
dog sledding tours with the beautiful White Arctic Huskies. Other tours include sightseeing
flights, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, ice road trips and driving tours from Inuvik to the Arctic
Ocean and Tuktoyaktuk where we partner with local Inuit guides.
Olav and Judi Falsnes are long-term residents of the north who have lived in Inuvik since 1986
when the company was started. Olav, originally from Norway, was a commercial bush pilot and
engineer who flew in the Canadian Arctic for over 35 years and is a great story teller and tour
guide with knowledge about the people, the land, the history and the culture of the north.
Judi, who was born in Switzerland, raised in Uruguay and studied in the USA and Germany, is
the general manager of the company and guides a variety of tours as well. Judi has raised and
trained our Arctic Huskies specifically for tourism and is the principle guide for all of our dog
sled tours Summer and Winter.
