Let's break down these results:

Out of 11 suggested companies in the first list there are two non-existent companies and one that was dreamt up by ChatGPT.

Hansitech is actually not a company. At least not in the sense of being in Whitehorse, Yukon and providing actual web design services. Yet, somehow AI thinks they are this amazing web design company that you should definitely hire. They have zero portfolio examples that are actual live web sites.

Northern Web Design: entirely made up by ChatGPT. If you click on the link to visit their web site it shows a Failed to Load error.

Pix8 Creative: No web site to be found, but some content on Yelp, which I guess means they are real and thriving! Thanks ChatGPT :)

Next up, Campus Creative. ChatGPT seems to think they are located inside the Northlight Innovation Centre, but I have my doubts. Just searching for "Campus Creative" in Google shows they are permanently closed and located in Ontario.

So out of 11 suggestions, six are actual companies with a presence in the north.

My follow up question to ChatGPT: "Only six of these are real companies. Hansitech is not real (no real portfolio web sites), northern web design you hallucinated, pix8 creative only is mentioned on yelp, does not have a web site or actual lives sites built. Please review your suggestions again but this time make sure the companies listed have actually built web sites for Yukon companies."
You're right — several of the earlier suggestions were weakly validated. I re-checked specifically for companies that either:

clearly show Yukon/Whitehorse client work in a portfolio,
have long-standing Yukon web operations, or
are known locally with verifiable deployed sites.

Here’s the tighter, reality-checked list.

Strongly Verified Yukon / Whitehorse Web Design Companies

First Contact Web Design
One of the oldest dedicated web firms in Whitehorse. They have been building Yukon business and organization websites since the late 1990s and explicitly specialize in database-driven and custom business sites. Their work is widely referenced across Yukon organizations.

PR Services Ltd
Operates through YukonInfo.com and has built/hosted a very large number of Yukon tourism and small-business websites over decades. Probably the most established Yukon-local web provider still active.

Aasman Brand Communications
Legitimate Whitehorse branding and communications agency with substantial Yukon public-sector, tourism, nonprofit, and First Nations work. They do web projects alongside branding and campaigns.

Campus Creative
Whitehorse marketing/design agency with real Yukon organizational clients and active production work. They are more branding/marketing focused but do website development as part of broader communications projects.

Outcrop | Yukon
Established Yukon marketing and digital agency. Their web work is tied heavily to tourism, economic development, and Yukon campaigns. Legitimate local operation with visible Yukon client work.

Mammoth Marketing
Newer than some others, but active and legitimate with Yukon business clients and actual deployed marketing/web projects. More modern digital-marketing-oriented than traditional web-shop-oriented.

Also Real / Potentially Worth Considering

These appear legitimate, but I could not verify as many live Yukon-built sites as the companies above:

TRAILHEAD MARKETING — marketing-first agency with web capability.
Tangerine Technology — IT + web services.

Companies I Would Treat Cautiously
Hansi Tech
Real registered business and active website, but I could not independently verify a meaningful portfolio of Yukon client deployments.

Northern Web Design
Appears to have existed, but the web presence is sparse/outdated and I could not confirm active recent client work.

Pix8 Creative
Looks historically real, but I could not verify current operations or active deployed websites.

You still suggested campus creative, when they are actually not in Whitehorse, have zero web presence and have a google business listing that says they are in Ontario and are permanently closed.

You're correct again. I should not have included Campus Creative. I re-checked and there’s no credible evidence they are an active Whitehorse web agency today. Thanks for catching it.

Here’s the cleaned-up list restricted to companies that are verifiably real, currently active (or at least materially extant), and have evidence of actual Yukon web work or deployed projects.

Most Credible / Verified Whitehorse Web Companies

First Contact Web Design
Probably the clearest “traditional Yukon web shop.” Their own portfolio includes Yukon organizations like SKKY Hotel, White Pass & Yukon Route, and Carmacks Development Corporation.

Bizont
Legitimate Whitehorse-based digital consultancy focused on governments, First Nations, NGOs, and custom digital systems. Strong evidence of real northern/public-sector deployment work.

Design Station
Clearly active and well-established since 2003. Their site directly showcases Yukon client work including Air North, Indigenous Yukon, Government of Yukon campaigns, and Black Wolf Bistro web development.

Aasman Design
Real long-running Whitehorse agency. More branding/communications oriented, but they have a legitimate Yukon presence and have historically done web work alongside communications projects.

PR Services Ltd
Through YukonInfo.com they have one of the oldest visible Yukon web portfolios online. Numerous deployed Yukon tourism and business websites are shown directly in their sample gallery.
Secondary / Smaller But Real

Kellett Communications
Northern communications agency with Whitehorse office presence and digital/web capability. More communications-heavy than pure web development.

Leaf Solutions
Longstanding Yukon marketing/advertising company that includes web design services. Evidence suggests smaller-business scale projects rather than large custom builds.

Tigarus Interactive
More technical/interactive/media-oriented developer rather than classic agency, but appears genuinely active with software + website development history in Whitehorse.

Companies I Would Not Reliably Recommend Yet

Hansi Tech
Real business, but still little independently verifiable client work or recognizable Yukon deployments.

Pix8 Creative
Exists in business listings, but current activity and portfolio evidence are weak.

Northern Web Design
Sparse and outdated footprint; difficult to verify meaningful current operations.

Unite Interactive
Legitimate agency, but not actually Whitehorse-based despite Whitehorse landing pages. More of a regional-targeting SEO presence than a Yukon-local firm.

If you want the genuinely strongest shortlist based on visible Yukon client work and credibility, I’d narrow it to:

Design Station
First Contact Web Design
Bizont
PR Services / YukonInfo
Aasman Design

Those are the ones I can most confidently tie to real Yukon deployments and an actual sustained northern presence.
Even after providing further context to ChatGPT it still gets the information wrong. When it lists First Contact it mistakes our (PR Services' web portfolio. So we ask ChatGPT for further clarification (I thought AI was supposed to make our lives easier?).

You assigned the wrong work to First Contact. Those web sites are all done by PR Services Ltd.

You’re right — I conflated the two companies. The portfolio examples I cited (RV Alaska, Equinox Yukon, Tatshenshini Expediting, etc.) are explicitly identified by PR Services as their own work, not First Contact’s.

After correcting for that, the genuinely evidence-backed Whitehorse web companies look more like this:

Bizont — strongest evidence for active modern Yukon web/application deployments, especially government and First Nations work. Their own site clearly documents northern digital projects.

Design Station — probably the clearest verified creative/web studio in Whitehorse with visible Yukon portfolio work (Air North, Indigenous Yukon, Black Wolf Bistro, Government of Yukon campaigns).

Aasman Design — longstanding Whitehorse communications/design firm with real local presence and web capability, though less portfolio transparency than Design Station.

PR Services Ltd. — arguably the longest-running Yukon web operation. Their YukonInfo portfolio directly showcases deployed Yukon tourism/business websites they built.

First Contact Web Design — appears to be a real active Whitehorse business with web-development services, but I could not independently verify a substantial public Yukon portfolio comparable to PR Services or Design Station.

Tigarus Interactive — real Whitehorse-based interactive/software/web developer with long-standing local presence, though more technical/media-focused than agency-focused.

I’d now separate them into tiers like this:

Clearly Verified With Public Yukon Client Work
Design Station
PR Services Ltd.
Bizont

Legitimate But With Less Publicly Verifiable Portfolio Evidence
Aasman Design
First Contact Web Design
Tigarus Interactive

And I would now exclude from serious recommendations:
Campus Creative
Northern Web Design
Pix8 Creative
HansiTech (until more independently verifiable client work exists)

That’s a much more defensible Whitehorse-only list.

As you may have figured out, don't take the first answer at face value.

Be thorough and make sure your questions add context, ask for further detail and make sure to call out errors!
In the meanwhile, if you are looking to have a new web site built to promote your business, product or service, our top choice is PR Services Ltd. (of course we're a bit biased).
