During the Gold Rush, a permanent settlement arose as miners flooded the area in search of gold. The Gold Rush caused Eagle’s population to spike at 1,500 residents. Today, Eagle’s population is less than 100 people.

Eagle boasts of its rich history and the five restored early twentieth century buildings. Many discover Eagle’s gold rush history by taking a walking tour of these historic sites. Eagle is also a popular river stop for canoeists traveling on the Yukon River. Many canoe from Eagle to Circle, Alaska, or from Dawson City to Eagle.

If you are traveling by car from Dawson City, you can reach Eagle by taking the Top of the World Highway and then turning north on the Taylor Highway at Jack Wade Junction.
