The Yukon Quest is an annual international dog race and a trail that follows historical Gold Rush and mail delivery dog sled routes from the turn of the 20th century. Once the transportation “highways” of the Northern frontier, the trail now comes alive each February with the frosty breath and haunting howls of hundreds of sled dogs. Up to 50 dog teams consisting of one human’ musher’ and 14 canine athletes tread across some of the last pristine wilderness remaining in North America.
This year the Yukon Quest has introduced a new route for the 2025 international dog-sledding race, which will run from Teslin to Faro. The Ceremonial Start date will be February 1st, 1PM in Whitehorse. Dog-sledding teams will take off from Teslin officially on Feb. 2nd, 1PM. Racing about 425 miles (more than 680 kilometres) across trail networks through the Southern Lakes and Campbell regions.
