Kluane, Yukon

Kluane is a mountainous region of the southwestern Yukon that is home to the communities of Haines Junction, Burwash Landing, Destruction Bay, and Beaver Creek.

It also contains the Kluane National Park and Reserve, as well as the traditional territories of the Champagne and Aishihik First Nations and the Kluane First Nation. Burwash Landing and Destruction Bay are both small communities along the Alaska Highway located next to Kluane Lake, which is the largest lake in the Yukon Territory. Kluane National Park and Reserve encompasses 22,013 square kilometres of land. The area covers the St. Elias mountain range, which includes Mount Logan, the highest peak in Canada. Kluane National Park also provides a link to the famous Tatshenshini-Alsek Park in BC, Wrengell-St. Elias National Park, and Glacier Bay National Park in Alaska. Popular activities in the region include hiking, mountain biking, rafting, fishing, and canoeing.
